It's August and for Sevier County residents that means one thing....It's Back to School time for all the kiddos! Check this blog post out for tips on how to make the last few weeks of summer meaningful for your children, how to combat boredom, and some awesome deals in the area as you get ready to embark on yet another school year.

1. Wash the car
2. Make a picnic lunch, but only pack items that start with the letter P
3. Make a wind chime from recycled items
4. Create a fairy garden...for an added twist make it for zombies
5. Create a back yard zip line for action figures or barbies
6. Use old newspapers to create anonymous notes
7. Paint rocks and add googly eyes to represent members of the family
8. Cover the slip n slide in shaving cream
9. Using old boxes, build a giant robot 
10. Wear parent approved old clothes and see who can create the largest grass stains

10 activities..Family Involvement
1. Bake cookies and create homemade ice cream sandwiches
2. Visit a Farmer's Market
3. Have a picnic at a state park 
4. Make homemade pizzas
5. Camp out in the backyard...create a campfire or use the grill and roast hot dogs and make s'mores
6. Go fossil hunting near a lake
7. Get a map of your area, mark off all the local parks -- then visit them, take pictures and vote for your favorite
8. Create three dimensional buildings using toothpicks and mini marshmallows
9. Take a free kid's workshop at stores like Lowe's and Home Depot
10. Make a giant hopscotch or Twister game on the lawn (with spray paint) or driveway (with chalk)

As Real Estate Agents The Derosia Team likes statistics.  In particular, we like to compare the market from year to year.  We would like to share some comparisons for 2006-2011 to show you how the market has changed. We focused on each individual area of Sevier County and the Volume Sold per area.  Here are a couple visual aids to show the change in the Smoky Mountains. Volume of Sales for 2006-2011 This is the same information just a different representation of the data! Volume of Sales for 2006-2011 We also compared the total volume sold for Sevier County as a whole through 2006-2011.   So as the economy suggest the market has dropped since 2006 & 2007.  However on a positive note the market for 2008-2011 has been somewhat consistent in the Smoky Mountains with a slow rise in volume.
