Local Favorite: Johnson's Family Restaurants

Tourist destinations like Sevier County have their share of chain restaurants, but it is the small individually, owned establishments that the locals hold near and dear to their hearts. These restaurants are often off the beaten path or offer delicious favorites that keep the locals and guests to our area coming back often.

The Johnson's Family Restaurants is a group of restaurants located in Sevier County that offer great food, excellent service, treat their employees well, serve everyone like their family, and give back to the community. They opened their first restaurant in 1991 and haven't looked back. They lost one of their restaurants to the devastating fires in November 2016, but that did not stop them. They continued to pay their employees salaries and helped those who lost their homes secure permanent housing. Soon after the devastating wildfires they opened two new restaurants in Gatlinburg. On October 2, 2017, less than a year after the fires, they will be re-opening the Alamo Restaurant in Gatlinburg. We can't wait till we are able to visit that location again.

Alamo Steakhouse Restaurants

2 Locations (Gatlinburg one re-opening soon) offering Steaks, Chicken, Seafood, and More! Find them at 3050 Parkway Pigeon Forge and 705 East Parkway Gatlinburg

Bennet's Pit BBQ

2 Locations offering the best hickory smoked bbq in the Smoky Mountains. They have a variety of bbq and southern comfort food options. Find them at 714 River Road Gatlinburg and 2910 Parkway Pigeon Forge.

Mama's Farmhouse

1 location offering all you can eat family food favorites. Featuring all the goodies Grandma's are known for. This all you can eat restaurant is served family style. Meaning there are no buffet lines to wait in. They bring some of everything on the menu for that day to try and if you want more they keep it coming! They are open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Find them at 208 Pickel Street Pigeon Forge.

Big Daddy's Pizzeria

3 locations offering delicious pies prepared in a one-of-a kind brick oven with a wood fired flame. They make their own dough and use the freshest ingredients to prepare a pizza aimed to please. Find them at 1820 Parkway Sevierville, 3053 Parkway Pigeon Forge, and 714 River Road Gatlinburg.

J.O.E. & Pop's Sub Shop

1 location offering fresh made subs, wings, and delicious cheese steaks sandwiches. They are open for lunch and dinner. Enjoy your meal inside or on the screened in patio porch. Find them at 1256 East Parkway.

Mama's Chicken Kitchen

1 location offering home cooked food served fast food style. Their strawberry and peach butter for the biscuits is worth the stop alone. They offer the same chicken and sides found at Mama's farmhouse. Order a plate for dine in or get a bucket to dine on while picnicking in our National Park. They share a building with the sub shop so find them also at 1256 East Parkway.  

Maddog's Creamery and Donuts

All this delicious food leaving you desiring something sweet. Check out their ice cream and donut shop for hand dipped premium ice cream, soft serve, funnel cakes, and donuts. They even offer treats for the four legged friends. Find them at two locations: 3048 Parkway Pigeon Forge and 731 East Parkway Gatlinburg.
