Who doesn't love the smells of fall....apples, cinnamon, pumpkin, nutmeg, and more? The leaves are changing and beauty is all around us. The air is getting cooler and the animals are preparing. Bonfires are a blazing and kids are picking out the perfect pumpkin for carving. Check out this blog post for some recipes that are sure to keep the lovely smells of fall filling your home!

This one is great for younger children....it might be a little messy, but everyone will have a blast!
Apple Cider Cloud Dough:

Here’s what you need for Apple Cider Cloud Dough:

  • 7 cups flour
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 6 packets of spiced apple cider mix
  • 1-2 tablespoons of cinnamon & clove spices
  • plastic tub
To make the cloud dough, simply combine the flour with the apple cider packets in a large tub. Then add in the vegetable oil and mix it with your hands. Continue mixing until the dough forms together. If you can form a ball with the cloud dough, then you know it’s ready! If you feel like the mix is too dry, then add in more vegetable oil. Then let the kids go to town sculpting, measuring, building, and burying!

Slime is all the rage...grab a small pumpkin and let the kids get messy while experimenting with Science!
Pumpkin Slime

Step 1: Cut the top off the pumpkin
Step 2: Make room in the pumpkin by loosing up all the seeds and guts. I did take some out to make room but the whole idea is to incorporate the parts of the pumpkin into the slime.
Step 3: Mix 1/2 cup room temp water with 1/2 cup of clear Elmers Washable School Glue {other brands of glue do not work well. You can use white but you won’t see as much of the pumpkin}. Stir to fully incorporate.
Step 4: Measure a 1/2 cup of liquid starch and pour directly into pumpkin.
Step 5: Pour glue and water mixture into pumpkin.
Step 6: Get your hands in there and mix. The image below shows all the ingredients in the pumpkin.
