Happy Fourth of July


 July 4, 1776 marked an important day in American history and since has been celebrated as the birth of American Independence.  Sevier County, Tennessee, specifically Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, will host festivities to celebrate our freedom. 

The Fourth of July celebrations will kick off in Gatlinburg with the 37th annual Fourth of July Parade.  Since 1976 the parade in Gatlinburg is renowned as the first Independence Day Parade in the United States.  The parade begins as the clock strikes midnight and the hour turns to July 4th. The parade will honor all military personal and veterans from all 5 branches of service.  The Gatlinburg Fourth of July Celebrations will continue throughout the day on July 4th with concerts at Ripley’s Aquarium and following up with a fireworks display at 10 pm.  The Derosia Team and Smoky Mountain Real Estate will host a barbeque starting at 7:00 pm on July 4th for the fireworks display.  If you are in town please join us at our office for the celebration.

Pigeon Forge will host its will host its 22nd annual Patriot Festival on July 4th from noon – 10:00 pm.  The day will be packed full of food, games, entertainment, fireworks, and plenty of fun for the entire family.  This years entertainers will include country artist John Anderson, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members The Lovin’ Spoonful, and new country star Chris Janson.  Parking, trolleys, and admission to the Patriot Festivals are all free.  So grab your blankets, lawn chairs, and sunscreen and join the celebration.

As Real Estate Agents The Derosia Team likes statistics.  In particular, we like to compare the market from year to year.  We would like to share some comparisons for 2006-2011 to show you how the market has changed. We focused on each individual area of Sevier County and the Volume Sold per area.  Here are a couple visual aids to show the change in the Smoky Mountains. Historic Places - Perry's Camp

Sevier County, Tennessee was established September 18, 1794 and covers about 6,000 square miles.  There are three distinct regions in Sevier County, Appalachian Mountain region to the north, Foothills region in the central portion, and the Great Valley of East Tennessee, which stretches 9,200 square miles across Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee.
