It's almost the first day of Fall.  Typically, we would imagine our days getting cooler, but around here it seems like summer wants to hang around a little longer. However, even though the temperature might not be getting you in the fall spirit, there are plenty of activities for the family to make it feel more like fall! The Smoky Mountain Real Estate Market is once again showing positive trends for the August 2012 in some key areas over the last year.  We have put together some statistics and visual aids for August 2012 compared to August 2009 - 2011. The first category we compared was residential units sold in the month of August. As you can see there were 45 more units sold in August 2012 than in August 2009.  There were 36 more units sold in August 2012 than in August 2010. Then August 2012 is up 43 units from August 2011. The total units sold are up 33% from 2009, 25% from 2010 and 31% from 2011. Total volume sold in August 2012 compared to the previous years is also showing a positive trend.  August 2012 is up 19.2% from August 2009, 6% from August 2010, and 13.1% from August last year. Are you looking for an adventure?  Do you have a motorcycle or sports car?  If so then you may want to consider taking a ride to Deals Gap, better known as the "Tail of the Dragon" or just the "Dragon."  The Dragon is a popular and internationally famous destination for driving enthusiasts. The Dragon in Tennessee offers up to 318 curves over 11-miles. The road earned its name from its curves resembling the tail of a dragon.  The stretch bears the street name Tapoco Road in North Carolina and Calderwood Highway in Tennessee and is signed entirely by U.S. Highway 129.  Since part of the road is also the southwestern border of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, there is not development along the 11-mile stretch.  The road travels mostly through forested area.  Along the route there are a few scenic overlooks and pull off points. The Derosia Team has taking one of the suggestions of our readers and reformatted one of our previous blogs.  Previously we posted a couple of visual aids of the residential volume sold for each individual city/town.  One of our readers suggested that we split the graphs into one graph for Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville; then the other of the surrounding areas.  The data is all the same but now it is split into two different visual aids. The Derosia Team appreciates all suggestions and works hard make these suggestions into different blogs. The first two graphs cover total volume sold for Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville. The final two graphs are for the surrounding areas of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville.
