Sevier County Flashbacks

Sevier County sure has changed a lot through the years, we have seen many businesses come and go. Roads have been built and life has formed where there was once just trees. Check out our latest post for some fun, flashback memories!


Twin Islands hotel was built in 1951 and located near the Aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN. Sadly, it has been torn down and being replaced with Margaritaville Resort!



Who remembers riding the Waterboggan in the 80's? Slide off the mat and lose your hide!

Ogle's Waterpark was a top summer destination in Pigeon Forge...taking a ride on any of the 6 slides, splashing in the wave pool, or enjoying an ice cream cone was the best way to spend the day. Now, Walden's Landing sits where Ogle's Waterpark was. 

Porpoise Island located off Sugar Hollow Road took guests to Hawaii. You couldn't miss the Dolphin, Sea Lion, Bird, and Hula shows. The roller skating birds were a favorite of many. In the midst of the Hawaiian theme, there was even a deer ranch nursery. Porpoise Island was favored my many in the 70's and lots of people have fond memories. 

Who remembers taking a date to the Midway Drive-In????

As Real Estate Agents The Derosia Team likes statistics.  In particular, we like to compare the market from year to year.  We would like to share some comparisons for 2006-2011 to show you how the market has changed. We focused on each individual area of Sevier County and the Volume Sold per area.  Here are a couple visual aids to show the change in the Smoky Mountains. Volume of Sales for 2006-2011 We also compared the total volume sold for Sevier County as a whole through 2006-2011.   So as the economy suggest the market has dropped since 2006 & 2007.  However on a positive note the market for 2008-2011 has been somewhat consistent in the Smoky Mountains with a slow rise in volume.

Historic Places - Perry's Camp

Sevier County, Tennessee was established September 18, 1794 and covers about 6,000 square miles.  There are three distinct regions in Sevier County, Appalachian Mountain region to the north, Foothills region in the central portion, and the Great Valley of East Tennessee, which stretches 9,200 square miles across Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee. Since the counties establishment, the county seat has been situated at Sevierville, the eighth oldest city in Tennessee.  As with an old county throughout the world, their is always historic buildings and places that still remain today.  Sevier County is no exception.  There are many historic buildings that make up part of the history of Sevier County that are still standing today.  Some of these buildings/places have made their way to the United States National Registry of Historic Places.  Because their are so many important buildings/places within Sevier County it is near impossible to hit on all of these in one sitting.  We will choose on
