Springfest in Gatlinburg

March 11 started Springfest in Gatlinburg! During this time, you see the town transform into the wonderful spring season. Spring flowers will be planted throughout the town. Starting today through April 3rd is the annual Easter Arts & Crafts show at the Gatlinburg convention center. There you can see some of the great work by some of our local artists.

April 4th is Easter! Ober Gatlinburg will be hosting their 12th annual Easter Sunrise service. Tram rides up to mountain will start at 6:00 am. If you are visiting the area during this time, several local churches will also have sunrise services.

April 22 will be Gatlinburg's Ribfest and Wings! This is a lot of fun, but you might want to get there early and allow time for finding and place to park.

Tail of the Dragon

Are you looking for an adventure?  Do you have a motorcycle or sports car?  If so then you may want to consider taking a ride to Deals Gap, better known as the "Tail of the Dragon" or just the "Dragon."  The Dragon is a popular and internationally famous destination for driving enthusiasts. The Dragon in Tennessee offers up to 318 curves over 11-miles. The road earned its name from its curves resembling the tail of a dragon.  The stretch bears the street name Tapoco Road in North Carolina and Calderwood Highway in Tennessee and is signed entirely by U.S. Highway 129.  Since part of the road is also the southwestern border of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, there is not development along the 11-mile stretch.  The road travels mostly through forested area.  Along the route there are a few scenic overlooks and pull off points. Sevier County, Tennessee was established September 18, 1794 and covers about 6,000 square miles.  There are three distinct regions in Sevier County, Appalachian Mountain region to the north, Foothills region in the central portion, and the Great Valley of East Tennessee, which stretches 9,200 square miles across Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee.
