Each season is unique and special in the Great Smoky Mountains, and summer is no exception. Everything is in full bloom and everywhere you look the green, lush canopy surrounds you providing tranquility unmatched. Also, you can't help but get wrapped up in all the wonderfully, fun stuff Sevier County, TN has to offer in the summer time. 

Are you looking for ways to help cure your child's boredom that seems to instantly kick in about the 3rd week of summer, finding ways to entertain your family on vacation, or looking to spend time with a loved one? Here are some surefire ways to ensure that everyone has a great time and takes back a load of fun memories. 

Dolly's Splash Country is now open and provides a great way to help the kid's with their summer boredom and beat the heat at the same time. Tons of water slides for the adrenaline junkies, and a huge lazy river for those wishing for a more relaxing adventure. 

Community Centers in the area all provide swimming pools to help channel your child's energy. The Gatlinburg and Sevierville Community Center has an indoor pool for those rainy days. The Pigeon Forge Community Center offers an outdoor pool complete with diving board and slide. (They also offer an indoor pool). Check out the Sevierville City Park's outdoor pool with Splash Pad and slides. Perfect for all ages. 

                         

Throughout the county there are plenty of opportunities for some miniature golf. A great outlet for friendly family competition or perfect for a date night!. Also, you can't miss out on all the Go Karts available in the area. Kids and adults alike will love to spend a day racing each other. 

                                     

Three mountain coasters in the area provide a fun way to view some of the summer scenery. They are family friendly and you are in charge of how fast you go.

                                

Looking for free or very inexpensive ways to entertain? Check out these activities!

Starting June 10th through July 30th Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales will be gracing the streets of downtown Gatlinburg with daily street performance festivals. Enjoy costumed musical performers, storytellers, and artisans. Tunes and Tales begins nightly at 6 pm in the center of town and members disperse themselves throughout the streets of Gatlinburg, so you may never know who you might run into. 

                                         

Tubing in the Smokies is a great way to relax, beat the heat, and take in the scenery. Load up the family, a picnic lunch, and some tubes and hit the river. There are some great spots in Greenbriar and along Little River Road. Townsend offers opportunities to rent tubes and provides bus shuttles for those who don't have tubes of their own or want to pile a bunch of wet people in their car.

                                      

Hiking is also fun in the summer time. Hike to a waterfall and enjoy a picturesque, sunny spot for lunch. 

                                    

Local Movies theaters offer past releases of kid's movies during the summer. Great way to take the whole family out. 

The Forge Cinemas at Walden's Landing offers free movies on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
